Tatra and Nexter present their Titus

International Fair of defense technologies IDET this year take place from May 19 to 21 at the Brno Exhibition Centre. The company Tatra Trucks will present a joint stand with its holding Excalibur Group and together they will present to the indoor and outdoor exhibits some interesting news.
The main attention of the professional public and supporters of military technology featuring a new armored vehicle Titus, which will have its premiere in Brno, Czech, and is a collaboration of Tatra Trucks and Nexter Systems.
Titus is built on the chassis of Tatra concept with a central tube and independent swinging half-axles with air suspension. When driving, the vehicle configuration 6×4 and 6×6 off-road then. For best maneuverability is controlled by first and last axle and the turning circle is 13 meters.
To drive the machine with an overall length of 7.72 meters, a width of 2.55 m, a height of 2.73 and a curb weight of 17 tons, respectively. weighing up to 27 tons are used for motor power up to 368 kW (500 hp) in conjunction with an automatic six-speed gearbox.

At 9:00 parking in the central area of Capoliveri. Departure transfer by shuttle bus to ”Underground
Mine of Ginevro”, the only underground mine on the island, in which you develop a homogeneous
path to the share of 6 mt. slm. Fitted helmet will travel ca. 2 km in a particular area where the
magnetite was extracted from the man. Today this area is Unesco. Journey time inside 50 min. We
recommend comfortable shoes and a sweatshirt. Internal temperature 18/20 ° C. Outside, you can

Followed by a visit to the museum of the “Vecchia Officina” in it are stored in iron and copper
minerals typical of the area of Mount Calamita. You can see the typical environments of the work of

Tatras at Militracks
Militracks in Overloon, NL showed tracked and half tracked German WWII vehicles as well as WWII cars and motorcycles. Your editor Kees Smit showed his 1943 T 57K while a Norwegian collector showed his extremely rare 1939 T 92, a 6×4 light truck originally built for the Czechoslovak forces, but eventually used by the Germans to invade Scandinavia. We had a ride with this truck! Apart from these vehicles, the Overloon war museum showed their Schwere Wehrmachtschlepper built by Ringhoffer/ Kolin in the war years while some Tatra’s OT 810 converted back to SdKfz 251 also were present.

The Wehrmacht driving manual already mentioned that the T 57K wasn’t an off-road vehicle. Here the T 57K got stuck with its differential in the mud, the course having seen many tracked vehicles.

Tatra T90 spends 2015 in Tatra Museum Bitov
Tatras at Essen 2015
Around 190.00 visitors attended the Techno Classica in Essen this year. With several Tatras shown, the Tatra community could not complain and will welcome the growing international attention for the brand.
Autostadt, the Wolfsburg VW museum, showed some of their latest acquisitions: A Borgward Isaballa, a Lincoln Zephyr, a Chevrolet Corvair and a 1945? T 87. Autostadt is rumoured to have paid E 230.00 for the Ecorra restored Czech vehicle.

Another T 87 was offred for sale at Thiessen. The German dealer, offering an all-white T 87 in Essen last year at a price of E 235,000, now offered a black 1942? T 87 at E 300,000.
But do not think this prize is outrageous. The well known green twelve cylinder T 80 was offered at E 1.200.000,– by a Dutch dealer.
Most simple Tatra in Essen was however a 1927 T 12, shown by the Tatra Register Deutschland. The German club has continued the stand of the Tatra Freunde International Club, which is showing no sign of life at the moment with no meeting planned in 2015 or information to its members. TRD members Jürg Malinovsky, Stefan Ebert, Roland Henkel, Carsten Schole, Antonin Zavada, Hedi Hübner and Kees Smit manned the stand with Tatra fans all over Europe paying a visit to the TRD stand. Shown at the classic car hall, the Tatra T 12 attracted quite some interest, especially with its bonnet opened.
