Dakar 2016: Jaroslav Valtr best Tatra in 8th spot

With Jaroslav Valtr finishing 8th overall and Matin Kolomy 16th overall, the Buggyra team came home as the most successful Tatra team.  The Bonver Tatra Team performed well, Arthur Ardavichus just missing the top ten, Tomas Vratny finishing 17th and the handicapped driver Llovera finishing 34th.

Dakar 2016: Stage win for Stacey, De Rooij overall victor. Kolomy 4th

Hans Stacey (Man) claimed the last stage of the Dakar in the truck category. The Dutchman defeated Russian Ayrat Mardeev (Kamaz), last year’s winner, and Argentinian Federico Villagra (Iveco) at the end of the 180 km special. Gerard de Rooy (Iveco) finished fourth, just over five minutes behind the stage winner, and wrapped up his second overall triumph after winning the 2012 edition.

In today’s stage, stage 12, oil leaked on the brakes of Gert Huzink’s Tatra and the brakes caught fire, leading to a complete burn down of the Dutch Tatra truck. The crew escaped unhurt.

Dakar Stage 11: Kamaz hits back, but overall leader de Rooij (Iveco) is playing safe; Tatra finishes 7th, 8th, 11th

At CP4 (after 396 km) and less than 40 kilometres from the finishing line, Russian Eduard Nikolaev is still the quickest driver in the category. However, the gap between him and his countryman Andrey Karginov has dropped down to only 9 seconds. Pieter Versluis in third lies more than 5 minutes behind the stage leader.
