Prague, June 19 (CTK) – A diplomatic dispatch from 2005 according to which Czech arms dealers cooperate with countries covered by an arms embargo and withhold this from U.S. partners has appeared on Wikileaks, the Czech Television (CT) public broadcaster reported Sunday.

A wonderfull palet of Tatra cars gathered at the Slovak Embassy in London on 18/6/11. Iniated by Ivan Margolius, Tatra Register UK members brought their cars including T87, T97, T600, T2-603 and T613-3.
With temperatures rising and the first official day of summer just around the corner, Utah County has deployed crews to multiple states to help fight fires.
On June 9, the Utah County Fire Tatra and a six-person crew were sent to Arizona to fight the Wallow fire, according to Utah County fire warden Kevin Cortez. Cortez said the Tatra is a specialized fire truck that was partially constructed in the Czech Republic. He said that it combines the benefits of an urban fire truck with an off-road vehicle by being capable of going up steep slopes, fording up to four feet of water, and adjusting tire pressure to adapt to road conditions. It also holds 2,000 gallons of water and 50 gallons of foam.

Former Czech defence minister Martin Bartak, suspected of having asked for a bribe in connection with the purchase of Tatra lorries for the military, filed a complaint against Tatra representatives on suspicion of corruption this week, his lawyer told the Euro.cz server.

We thought you might enjoy seeing a photo of the museum’s T87 being driven across “the bricks” at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on May 13th 2011. We were among 250 cars invited to participate in The Celebration of Automobiles, a first-time concours for the Speedway, and held in conjunction with the other activities surrounding the Centennial race. While there were a few Jaguars, Mercedes-Benzes, brass-era Renaults, and even a Georges Irat, I am fairly certain we were the only Czech entry. Many hundreds, if not thousands, stopped by to ask about the car – it garnered a lot of interest!

This year’s TFI rally was held in Carinthia and was organized by Hans Engl and his team for the third time. Theme chosen was “Along the peace roads”, referring to WWI where Carinthia was one of the theatres of war. The TFI, as the oldest Western-European Tatra club, always knows to attract a wide variety of Tatras, including many pre-war models.

Tens of Tatras were present at the last weekend’s TFI annual meeting, held this year in Carinthia. Organised by Hans Engl & friends, it attracted a wide variety of Tatras including most pre-war air-colled models like the T12, T 57, T 57a, T 75 etc. Streamliners were present too with T 87s, Tatraplans and T 603s all having made their way to southern Austria.
