Martin Kolomy comments: Today’s start of the stage was wonderful, but then we were hit by a technical fault on the wiring and stopped the engine for quite a long time. We could not find it, but the important thing is that we are at the finish and we can continue with a lot of loss, but we will continue to fight because we are at the beginning of the competition. It’s not nice, we had a lot of fun, we were a lot ahead, and we knew that somebody would not take us anymore, because the start was very challenging, where there were sea exits that were so risky that there were competitive trucks there and we also took a couple of times. But unfortunately, no one can see it even when we get 100% coolness, still just wires and spinning wheels, it’s just a bad luck, “said Martin Kolomý

News is scarce, but we hear that Kolomy has stranded with mechanical problems with the finish in sight, while Pavel Vrnak, on the fast assistance Buggyra Tatra, had to spend the night in the dunes with several other competitors. They were just stuck!

Aleš Loprais entered this year´s rally fantastically when he managed to win the first stage in the dunes from Lima to Pisca. The second rider in the finish was Van den Brink with Renault and the third one was Nikolaev with Kamaz, when the leading trio crossed the finish line within less than thirty seconds.
“Of course, we are happy, every victory in the Dakar counts, but we stay on the ground and concentrate on the upcoming days.” Dakar is a very challenging and especially a long race. The finish is far ahead and it is there where we are up to.” said Aleš Loprais. Other Tatra drivers took it easy. Kolomy finished 9th, Soltys 25nd,and Vrnak 37th.
