Dakar Team Holland presented their Tatra Phoenix to an enthusiastic public in Valkenswaard, NL. The team has a very professional appearance but will not go for the overall victory. Main goal is to finish the 2013 Dakar event. Interesting is also their brand-new service truck, most probably the only Dutch registered 6×6 Phoenix.

Surprise surprise for his fans before this year’s Ales Silk Way Rally. Participants will InstaForex is the general partner of the professional team EUROLAT Veka MAN!
Alex’s surprise move has its origin already in former times, but accelerated after the end of this unlucky Alex’s crew in the Dakar Rally stage in Iquique, when Alex crashed Tatra Jamal at the coupling section and had to withdraw from the second position overall. “With a team Veka MAN we had a very long good relations, even though we were rivals. Even in Dakar we met. When we crashed on the Dakar this year, was one of the first crews that came to help us, Peter ekipa Versluise, team owner EUROLAT Veka MAN. He then began a new chapter in the story of the future. Peter grabbed my hand and said that once we win the Dakar together in one team, “ said a sudden turn Ales.
Earlier Alex’s special Tatra Jamal was completely destroyed in the crash. “With long-term partnership with the Czech insurance company, we could begin work on the next car that will be even better. Before you finish, however, and we expect it to fall, with many improvements, I decided to take part in the Silk Way Rally, which we won last year and where in 2009 we finished third, another technique to identify and test the concept and operation of large foreign professional team. We very much appreciate the offer, while Russia will use the launch to test how recovery progressed injured my back, and also to become comfortable with the new crew, “ adds Alex, who had already tried his car during a recent testing in Turkey.
Alex would have under an agreement for Silk Way Rally crews also use Veka from the team, so the navigator and mechanic. “They are experienced professionals with several Dakar participations, the engineer on the construction of the car worked and he knows it in detail, so they have full confidence , “ adds Alex. The Dutch team EUROLAT Veka MAN Silk Way airs on four specials, Alex still managed apart from team owner Peter Versluisem, as well as special workshops of the company Toni Maurer, Franz Echter driven car, and even the experienced Dutchman Pascal de Baar. All specials team have had a very successful performance at the Dakar and other endurance marathons.
“After initial tests, I must say that I am positively surprised and happy. Cars are very competitive, with a great engine power and torque curve and excellent brakes. Further evidence can I be up in the rally itself, “ adds Alex.
Silk Way Rally will be held from 7 to 15 July 2012 on the route between Moscow and Sochi Olympic Gelendzik far. Again offer eight heavy and long periods, of which the most important will be placed in the desert near the Kalmyk Caspian Sea. SA-Dakar Rally: History in Trucks – Iveco first time beated legendary Kamaz.
SA-Dakar Rally: History in Trucks – Iveco first time beated legendary Kamaz.
“Iveco Petronas De Rooy” beated the Kamaz, beated the Tatra, beated the MAN. Or: Again the Dutch stop the legendary Kamaz Dakar winning series – like 2007 the MAN with Hans Stacey. Or: The Italian truck-brand Iveco celebrates his first Dakar-win ever.
But there were quite a few milestones to mention: 30 years ago, father and team manager Jan de Rooy took his first victory in the truck league with his DAF 2800, with nose. In the meantime it’s also 25 years ago that the same legend won the truck league again with his DAF Turbo Twin II.
From today onwards we can start with a new legend: Son Gerard de Rooy gloriously took over the baton from father Jan de Rooy. From the first day onwards he knew how to manage the new De Rooy Iveco. He was on the lead from the 4th stage onwards and in total he took 5 stage victories. Some days the Team de Rooy was very dominating, especially in the 12th stage when they took the first 4 places.
Also the 2nd place is for Petronas Iveco: It’s Hans “Racey” Stacey, nephew of Jan de Rooy, who underscored the performance of the team. For Stacey also a new milestone: 5 years ago he took the 1st place in the Dakar with the MAN Team. This rally he had too many slight problems to win and took 4 times the 2nd place. Full marks for the professional attitude of the Dutch oil trader.
Today’s round was a round for the sponsors, friends and family and of course the Peruvian public. Team De Rooy´s Miki Biasion finished first in 27:22 minutes. It was the 3rd victory of the very sympathetic Italian in the Dakar Rally 2012. Due to 2 bad-lucks days Biasion had to be satisfied with the 6th place.
The fast service trucks completed the picture. “Ok, Jo Adua had an off-day yesterday and also Pep Vila had a bad day but at the end the Spaniard Pep Vila took the 11th place” reported the team. Frenchmen Jo Adua, who took the 5th place overall until yesterday, took the 16th place at the end.
Team manager Jan de Rooy made it to start with 5 Iveco trucks and to finish with 5 Iveco trucks. “This will be continued – that´s for sure” reported the team in the evening.

Team Iveco also got a one-two, with De Rooy and Stacey ahead of Kazakhstan’s Artur Ardavichus and his Kamaz. The Tatras of Martin Kolomy and Andre de Azevedo managed 7th and 8th overall.
