Batmobile Returns Home

no comment Posted by smitkees
The lure of the Bat Cave was too strong for this Czech Batmobile. Though Alfred the Butler and Stately Wayne Manor were nowhere to be seen, the Bronson Caves, in Hollywood, California — once made famous as the entrance and exit for the original Bat Cave in the 1960s television show “Batman” — were pressed into service again, this time as a location for the new television show “Face Off” and they hired Paul Greenstein and Dydia DeLyser’s 1941 Tatra T87 to feature in an upcoming episode.
In the US SyFy channel’s “Face Off” series ( http://www.syfy.com/faceoff/) make-up artists transform their subjects into zombies, monsters, animals, and even cars. Season three begins in the US in late August (check local listings and their website for your own region). What on earth will they do with a Tatra T87?! Stay tuned!

TatraOfficialDealerSpotted by Dutch enthusiast bert Barends, this illuminated Tatra service sign probably dates from the eighties.  It was used by a Dutch Tatra truck dealer.

Historische Sammlung Tatras

no comment Posted by smitkees

T603Angemuende2011

Angermünde (dpa/bb) – Fidel Castro fuhr ihn.

New Tatra sportssaloon

no comment Posted by smitkees

This is a project set by http://www.concept-group.com

Tatra was known for its ‘Streamliner’ cars as influenced by Paul Jaray as well as some baroque detailing influenced by Czech Art Nouveau and even some Art Deco touches.
Later Tatras gained more conventional bodywork but were still large V8 and rear engined.
I’ve looked at the older vehicles and their influences but also at contemporary Czech culture and art.
I would especially like feedback from any Czech members but all feedback will be taken into account and could prove very useful to me.

TatraPanameraMy brief is to design a contemporary Tatra but based upon a current architecture. That restraint means the car will have to be front engined, abandoning Tatras rear engined heritage, as there are no suitable rear engined cars in production. I am intending on using the Porsche Panamera as a base as the dimensions and profile are fitting.

Tatra Alert. T 54 found back untouched

T54Stolen2011

Just days ago Tatra World informed you about JiriVermirovsky’s freshly restored T 54 stolen in Ostrava.

A happy Helena Martinova has now informed TW that the T 54 has been located by the Ostrava police.  Fears were about the cars condition. Were parts stolen, was the engine still there? We now can tell you that the car was still in perfect condition, without any scratch!

The lucky owner would like to express his thanks to everybody who have paid attention to the theft.
