If you want a 1:32 scale slot car to race on your Scalextric or Carrera track, you have lots of choice. There are sports cars, racing cars, saloon cars and rally cars available from the modern day and yesteryear. Now added to the list is a 1960 Tatra 603.

With the resin bodyshell kit including vacform windows, interior and rally decals, you can build your own Tatra and put it onto an existing slot car chassis. Or if you would like to go to the next level of realism you can fit one of the chase-cars chassis which allows the front wheels to steer and the whole car to lean through the corners.

The chassis was developed to add some authenticity to 1970s American saloon cars, but works equally well on classic rally cars. If you don’t think a classic saloon should corner like an F1 racing car, a chase-cars chassis could be just the thing. To explain what goes into the chassis, there’s a YouTube video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e8ff2NzKj6U
And for a quick look at how it works with the Tatra, look at these two:

I was in Munich for DLD, a conference, and I had a morning to kill. So I joined a group tour of modern art museum Pinakothek der Moderne’s design wing. There was all kinds of impressive stuff — but I immediately gravitated to a crazy-looking, beautiful car.

Not perfect, but it is coming close. But the sills, sliding roof, headlamps, rear number plate holder all don’t seem to have the right dimensions.
