Danny Barnett & Alex Tremulis

T603BarnettLeno

No, this is NOT about Las Vegas |T603 owner Danny Barnett meeting Jay Leno, but about Danny meeting Tucker designer Alex Tremulis a loo0ng time ago. When the photo was recently shown to Steve Tremulis, the son of Alex, he spoke about his father.

“Your brother shared this shot of you and Alex Tremulis while we were at the Palos Verdes Concours d’Elegance a few years ago. Alex loved Paul Jaray and as a kid growing up in the 1920s, Alex would study his designs for hours on end. They influenced his entire career of over a half century of automotive design, including, of course, the Tucker ‘48. He always thought Jaray and Hans Ledwinka were unsung heroes in aerodynamics and he tried to make sure that people in the United States were aware of their contributions to the art. In the 1980s, he wrote a long tribute to Jaray in a special streamlining issue in Motor Trend, I think. “
