Come see antique and modern TATRA vehicles showcased at the Czech Embassy from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 7, 2011.
Today, TATRA’s core product range consists of trucks for combined off-road and on-road transportation and heavy duty off-road trucks, as for example, the T815-7NOR99 with excellent 8×8 drive configuration. This vehicle is a member of the most recent development of the new military family of TATRA trucks- heavy-duty vehicles. Due to its specific design features, this truck is particularly suitable for operation in the most difficult off-road or cross-country conditions. It can serve as a tactical truck, or carry various kinds of special superstructures and load handling systems.

At the Retro Classics 2011 in Stuttgart two Tatras were presented by Classic Cars Bohemia.

Unfamiliar names? Not to the visitors of the Eastern European Vehicles Day in Aalsmeer, The Netherlands. The meeting kicked of the 2011 classic vehicle season and attracted around a hundred vehicles with most clubs using the event to represent themselves.

My personal favourite – as a former sidecar racer – was an incredible Trabant sidecar combination used in Dutch classic sidecar race events. See the pix in the links.

For the second time running, Piet Pruttel & Friends will organise a Eastern Bloc Vehicle Show next sunday, February 20.

No, it wasn’t this Tatra rounding the pylons that reminded us of a white sausage, but read on… The photo was taken during the first edition of the ‘Regio-Sprint’ held in the scenic ‘Altmühltal’ in Germany in which 163 antique and classic cars took part. Czech photographer Vladimir Cettl is fascinated by classic car scrapyards. He is fascinated by Tatras especially and now has his exhibition at the Tatra Museum in Koprivnice. The exposition runs till March 28 and includes some Tatra wreckages.

The TRUK scored a major success when their club stand became “Classic & Sportscars” runner-up in “the best medium car club stand” and one of its exhibits, the T77a, even “Car of the Show!” The club stand, manned by several Tatra diehards, presented a fine mix of unrestored, road-going and restored rearfin models. On top of all, TRUK member Ivan Margolius presented his Tatraplan, class winner in the Classic Cars organised “UK Classic Car of the Year” on the Bauer stand.

Tatraplan owner Ivan Margolius is happy to let you know that his 1949 Tatra T600 has been selected by the public vote as the winner of the 1940s category and will be exhibited at the Classic Motor Show NEC Birmingham 12-14/11/10.
