An unique Tatra license vehicle exhibition openen on May 26 and will continue till November 26. It includes Tatra, Detra, Roehr, Stoewer, Delta, Austro-Tatra, Lorraine Tatra licence built vehicles.

Z bodu A do bodu B se můžete dostat různě. Rychle, nebo pomalu, více, nebo méně spolehlivě, v nepohodlí, nebo naopak přepychově jako v bavlnce. A pak můžete cestovat stylově. Jako třeba milovníci starých vozů Tatra. Věřte, nebo nevěřte, pár se jich najde i na amerických silnicích.
Chvilku trvá, než se motor zahřeje. Ale za chvilku z parkoviště českého velvyslanectví ve Washingtonu vyjíždí nablýskaná stříbřitá krasavice – elegantní Tatra 87, zkráceně osmička. Mistrovské dílo legendárního konstruktéra kopřivnické Tatrovky Hanse Ledwinky.
Mezi její vlastníky patří mimochodem také nejpopulárnější americký bavič-moderátor Jay Leno, který ji zařadil do své rozsáhlé a věhlasné sbírky. Kdysi v ní údajně jezdil i nositel Nobelovy ceny za literaturu John Steinbeck. Mně ji ve Washingtonu předvedl emigrant Ivo Slezák, původem ze Šternberka.
The Marin Sonoma Concours d’Elegance 2011 was held Sunday, May 15th at the Marin County Fairgrounds in San Rafael, California. An estimated crowd of more than 5,000 were on hand to see more than 200 American and European automobiles on the show field.

Nearly 3,000 visitors attended a 6-hour long open house on EU Day, 7 May 2011, at the Czech Embassy in Washington, DC, partaking of Pilsner Urquell, and homemade goulash (no knedliky). The Embassy hosted a Tatra exhibit as part of the Open House day, where all EU Embassies opened their doors to the public.
The Lane Motor Museum from Nashville, Tennessee brought their 1935
Tatra T57. It was driven by James Green. From Toronto, Canada, John Long and Heléna Mitchell brought their 1938 Tatra T77A. Ivo Slezak and his family from Massachusetts brought their 1948 Tatra T87. The Tatra line-up was completed by two Tatra trucks destined for American customers.
Several other North American Tatra enthusiasts like Ray Juncal made the trip to the East Coast. Paul Greenstein and Dydia DeLyser, winners of last year’s NYT “most desirable classic car”award left their car at home but compensated it by dressing up as a Czech legionnaire and Eliska Junkova, Czechoslovakia’s famous female Bugati racer.

Today, May 6, different kind of Tatras arrived at the US Czech Embassy. Both antique and modern TATRA vehicles are showcased at the Czech Embassy from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 7, 2011. Listen and learn during seminars regarding TATRA’s history and current models.

This year’s spring meeting of the Tatra Register Nederland was held last weekend in Langweer, Friesland, the native town of Peter Visser.
The meeting was mixed with the opening of the sailing season, adding some classic car flavour. The gorgeous wheather attracted Tatras and several other brands.

At this year’’s Techno Classica, the TFI managed 6th place in the Best club stand competition. Using a T613S and a painted CSA aircraft, one fancied Gorbachev visiting his Czechoslovak 
colleague Husak. Well done guys! As always, coffee and more was present and all Tatra enthusiasts gained a warm welcome.
There were more Tatras at Essen though, Classic cars of Bohemia showing a narrow mask T 603 and a light blue T87 Diplomat, shown before at the Stuttgart classic car show.

The exhibition will be part of the events held at our Embassy for the annual EU Open House Day, on which twenty seven Embassies of the European Union open their doors to the public to provide a taste of Europe through exhibitions, entertainment, drink, and food. Last year, there were a total of more than 96,000 visits recorded with more than 3,000 people coming to the Czech Embassy alone. This year, due to this rare Tatra exhibition at our Embassy, we expect the number to be even higher.

Tatra licence vehicles will be on show at the Central Garage in Bad Homburg near Frankfurt (D) from May 28 till the end of November 2011. So, if you are passing by, take a look. According to the flyer of the exhibition, it will include Austro-Tatra, Delta, Detra, Fitzmaurice,Lorraine, Rohr, Schenk, Stoewer, Tatra-Ate and Unitas-Tatra material. Apart from the Fitzmaurice, all brands will be presented by 1-3 vehicles. A T 87 and a T 603 will be present as well. More to follow…
