Profile Jaroslav Valtr:
After a one year break, Jaroslav Valtr returns to the Dakar with high ambitions. The Czech driver will take on a new challenge joining the Tatra Buggyra Racing team. After bidding farewell to his usual Liaz truck, the one he drove to a great 12th position in 2012, he was given the opportunity to hop in the cabin of a Tatra for his fourth Dakar. After failing to finish his last two Dakar rallies, Valtr needed something new, a competitive truck, the 45-year-old has found just that with his new Tatra Phoenix. On his journey that will hopefully end in Rosario, Valtr will once again have at his side a reference in terms of offroad rallies: Mister Josef Kalina who started his first Dakar in 1991 and won the event twice with legendary Karel Loprais. His other team mate will be young mechanic Kiri Stross who will be discovering the Dakar.
J.V.: “Everything started in 2009 on the Dakar when I started the race as the co-driver of Martin Macik who is today our team owner and truck constructer. I had been racing in small cars for many years and the Dakar had always been my dream. Nothing is better than standing at the finish line and saying, I did it! On the other hand I suffered so many bad situations, technical problems and dangerous moments. I had already used the Buggyra Gyrtech engine during the 2014 Dakar and I could feel the ambition of the team to succeed on the Dakar. I said to myself, if I’m to take part in the Dakar again, then it has to be under the colours of a team with a guaranteed top professional approach and the combination between Tatra and Buggyra provides that.”

For Tomas Vratny, team chief of the Bonver-Tatra Team a challenge to find a new driver as soon as possible. “It’s incredible what we have succeeded in a few days. The fact that Robert is not going to Dakar, we learned about early November. Immediately, we started looking for another solution and we addressed a number of Czech and foreign potential drivers from whom we have received interesting offers. One of them, however, was exceptional, and it was an offer from a the handicapped Andorran Albert Llovera, “said team boss Thomas Vratny.
Despite this handicap, however, Llovera participated in rallies and in the years 2007, 2014 and 2015 have also tried the Dakar Rally in the car category.
The new pilot Bonver Dakar Project Team, which will participate in the Dakar Rally 2016 is Albert Llovera. Handicapped Andorran racer will drive a specially adapted truck Tatra. To adapt the Tatra to the needs of Llovera raised headaches, but one succeeded. “It was a crazy week of phone calls, meetings, sketches of the car and a lot of mileage. Finally we succeeded, thanks to the effort of many people. I would like to thank my new navigator Charlymu Gotlib, Team Dakar Bonver Project and Company Guidosimplex. In five days we managed to adjust the truck, which is incredible, “he praised Albert Llovera efforts of all involved. The Dakar Rally 2016, the Andorran racer will present together with navigator Charly Gotlib, multiple participant and winner of the Dakar Rally truck category in 2007. The position of mechanic is trusted to Jaromir Martinec, also multiple participant in the toughest rally of the world, who raced with Tomas Tomecek and Andre de Azevedo.

Ales on yesterday’s technical problems due to which he had to withdraw from the race …
Ales Loprais and his expression of the Dakar 2016 …
“I apologize to everyone for communications lockout caused by spending the night in the bonding stage at an altitude of 4000 meters above sea level, without the possibility of regular communication …
Yesterday’s stage was a bit strange. Probably previous heavy rains and the ever-present mud was signed on the electronics of our vehicles. Just before we left tire inflation system, then immediately after the start of the bottom row of gears and a bit over half the SS 4×4. However, the finish we dodriftovali only rear-wheel drive in very good time and I was happy that we did with the car, which was not 100% fit dragged into the goal. Then we went to the connecting leg of the marathon bivouac. In the mountains, at the highest possible point is blocked the left front wheel. We stopped immediately and the fault quickly analyzed. Unfortunately, there was so far from unknown reason damage to the front wheel hub bearings. This episode behind us and we nor any of the other participants, who stood with us, not with them. It meant one thing. Call assistance, which was at that time the US 600 km away and wait for help. Meanwhile, we have dismantled the wheel hub, erected tents at night, waiting for the morning help. Boys of service I navigated a satellite phone and sent them the GPS coordinates where to find us. They arrived after dark in the morning. At an altitude of 4000 meters everything works differently. One can quickly get tired and suffering from a major headache and malaise. Correction succeeded at noon today, and we went to the bivouac, with little hope that we manage to limit the start of the next stage. Unfortunately it did not work and the start gate for us to stay closed.
I regret it very much, even though I know that this is exactly Dakar – beautiful, fascinating, relentless and cruel. After last year’s fourth place at Dakar and second place in Morocco, I felt the possibility of this new team on the Dakar to succeed. I wanted to free day to survive with minimal loss for the first five and then start to pull in the difficult stages that suits me. It did not happen unfortunately. I look forward and think of another event to humble ourselves.
I thank all the fans for their kind messages of tolerance for family and partners for their support.
It is much appreciated and we look forward again with you on your next adventure. “

Následně jsme pokračovali spojovací etapou do maratonského bivaku. V horách, v tom nejvyšším možném místě se zablokovalo levé přední kolo. Ihned jsme zastavili a závadu rychle analyzovali. Bohužel došlo z prozatím neznámého důvodu k poškození ložiska náboje předního kola. Tento díl jsme sebou my a ani nikdo z dalších účastníků, kteří u nás zastavili, u sebe neměli. Znamenalo to jediné.
