The second part of the marathon stage (no assistance allowed during last night)
Stage 5 -SAN SALVADOR DE JUJUY – UYUNI
Special stage: 327 km
Total: 642 km
Today, the frontier with Bolivia was crossed. The stage is high in the mountains with thin air. Lowest point is 3750 m, highest point nearly 4750 m. One will have to look after the truck, itself and fellow crewmembers in these circumstances.
Kolomy was the best Tatra driver. Overall, he is 9 hr 32 sec adrift from the overall leader. He must have regretted his fast driving in a village in stage 3, when he was penalized with 10 minutes.
