Dakar: Stage 6 cancelled

Rain and snow led Dakar Rally officials to cancel the event’s 400-plus-mile sixth stage, scheduled originally to run on Friday, Jan. 6.
The weather affected the course between Fiambala and Copiapo. The cancelation comes on the heels of bad weather on Wednesday that forced officials to shorten stage five.

Tatra doing well in Africa Eco Race

Though the Ultimate Race is the Dakar, this year’s Africa Eco Race again saw an old fathfull Tatra competitor: Tomas Tomecek. Overall he is 2nd in the combined truck/car category, where he is the best truck. :

Dakar Stage 5 Report

The 5th stage characterized by white dunes, started in Fiambale.  The short 177 km long special was reduced due to bad weather by another 24 kilometers. A race without windscreen
The struggle between the trucks is tight.  The 4th stage brought a lot of passages in canyons, racers climbimg into the mountains to a height of 3500 meters as well as , lots of dried river beds.

Dakar 3rd Stage Report

The third stage was a technical oneabout ten trucks fighting it out for top positions.  The winner was a surprise one.  Loprais managed well and climbed to 5 th overall.
